Tuva and TuvannessIt's maybe an odd place for it here it DA, but I loved finding this article - it's very much like a potted history of the development of my own interest in Tuvan music.   
I first became interested in Tuva and throat singing - and the incredible Dr Feynman too - several years ago, after seeing the TV documentary of Leighton and friend's trip there. Just an utterly fascinating piece of film. It starts with a potted history of Prof F, surely one of the greatest scientific minds of our era, *and* a pretty cool bongo player to boot, his obsession with Tuva, and his sad death before he managed to get there.

Q: Please tell us what your plans are for the awards ceremony. For example, do you still wear traditional costumes on stage?  
 
A: We'll be playing two songs - Ahoi which hasn't been released yet and Kozhamyk from our Aldyn Dashka CD. In our opinion they represent exactly the style and sound of contemporary Yat-Kha. For the last few years we haven't worn traditional costumes, nor have we played pure traditional music. But we have some Tuvan or more generally Asian elements in our dress which we use both on stage and in our everyday lives, as people Yat Kha interview

What is this community all about? - New Affiliates

The Tyvan Guild was started in an effort to create a deviantART community for enthusiasts of Tannu Tuva, its music, culture, history, etc. To join, you need only to have an interest in Tuva and either note or devWatch the community. Any and all Tuva-related submissions of art or writing are always more than welcome. You can submit either by email to opethkourosh@hotmail.com or simply note with a link. It would also be much appreciated if you could post an icon or link somewhere on your deviantART page and help spread the word about Tuva, Tuvan music, culture, etc.
